July 2017 Update

So, another month on at the Centre, and things are starting to settle down a little.

The new tea rooms, the new branch of Miss V's Cornish Cream Teas, from St. Just in Roseland, is proving a big hit with locals and visitors alike, and yumptious morning coffees and afternoon teas have now been augmented with delicious Light Lunches ranging from Smoked Salmon and Cream Cheese, Award Winning Cornish Charcuterie Duck Rillette, Cornish Real Ale Chutney and Cream Cheese, Antpasti, a selection of Cured Meats and Olives, to a Cornish Ploughmans, served with Cornish Brie, Davidstow Cheddar, Stilton and a large pickled onion.

Battling against the urge to spend all day in the Tea Room themselves, our wonderful new team of volunteers are now kindly busying themselves in manning the front desk and assisting visitors, and dealing with the happily ever-increasing number of enquiries from folk from far and wide realising that the Centre is now once again fully open, and interested in using it for one activity or another.

Kernow Forno Pizza Café made its welcome return to the Centre on the balmy evening of Monday 19th June, and will now be in residence every Monday evening. We can't guarantee the balmy weather every Monday, but we can guarantee delicious pizzas, so why not bring a bottle (no corkage charged), or buy one of ours (cheap and cheerful) and come and enjoy a pizza – outside if it's nice, inside if it's not – and then top it off with an equally delicious pudding from Miss V's. We even offer acoustic guitar accompaniment. What could be more blissful on a summer's evening?

Continuing on a food theme, we're hoping (numbers permitting) to be offering on Thursday 29th June a first welcome to Keeping Cornwall Fed, a pop-up bistro whose purpose, in association with supermarkets and other providers of ‘on sell by' food, is to offer a cracking £10 meal to diners who can pay, so as to be able to finance, on another evening, a completely free meal to an equal number who can't – very much the stuff of community, and of which your Centre believes you would wish it to be supportive.

Participation is through pre-booking only, so watch our Facebook page (or KCF's) for news of the next KCF ‘pop up', come and put your name down for it at the Centre, and then stand by for an alfresco dining experience that is truly exceptional, huge fun, and does good within the community on behalf of each diner who supports it.

Till the next update, all best from all of us at your Centre, and enjoy the summer...

Thank you for your continuing interest in the Lostwithiel Community Centre; this information will be updated again as soon as there is more of note to share.
