September 2017 Update

Autumn is knocking on the door loudly now...

... and sees loads of new classes starting at the Centre to fill those long darker evenings… such as Step and Strength and High Intensity Training on Tuesdays, and Adult Ballet on Thursdays. These in turn take their place alongside new daytime classes such as Adult Contemporary Dance, Chair Yoga for Beginners, Somatics and French for Beginners on Tuesdays, and Drawing and Painting classes on Wednesdays. Drop in to the Centre (or see our website page www.lostwithielcommunitycentre.org.uk) for more details.

Tickets for the Johnny Cowling evening (on Friday 8th December – in aid of Cancer Research UK) will be available very soon, so be sure to Like and Follow us on Facebook for latest up-to-date info – and Tap-ercise (no, we don't really know what that is either, but somewhere between 'tap' and 'exercise'!) is also coming soon – Lostwithiel will soon have no choice but to become even fitter and more fun-loving!

Meanwhile, the Indoor Car Boot / Flea Market got off to an excellent start in September, and, hopefully, the coming Christmas & Craft Fairs will do the same. September's Barn Dance was also huge fun - thanks to Pam Jarrett for organising that, and to Jig and Reel for playing – and it was good to see so many turning out and having a thoroughly enjoyable time.

On a practical note, we're now asking people using the Post Office to use the entrance on the side of the building; this enables us to have the main hall in use at the same time – but you can still pop back via the main entrance to enjoy a Miss V's Cream Tea or, as is starting in October, a High Tea, for which advance bookings are encouraged – and already being received!

Meanwhile, huge and continuing thanks to all those who volunteer with time and effort both in and around the Centre to keep it developing as it is. Special thanks this month, for giving so generously of their time and resources, to R&R Services, who despite their main-stream commitments, still made a point of keeping the Centre's frontage looking neat by trimming the hedges; and to Bob Moody, who ensured that the Centre's changing room showers got fixed just in time for us to welcome back Lostwithiel Football Club to lashings of hot water on their first game of the season (after bravely enduring last season with none!). Could this be what caused them to run in 6-4 winners at the end of the game after being 3-0 down at half time?

And finally this month, big thanks to Richard Bower and the Jazz Café for their gift of a superb new bench to live outside the main entrance (for use when you're queuing for yet another sell-out Centre event!)

Thank you for your ever-increasing use of your Centre – the better it gets used, the better it'll get.

Till next month's update, all best from your LCA Team at the Centre.
